Top 10 Beauty Products of 2016

It’s been forever since I last posted a favourites post so I have a fair few products to tell you about! Here are my top 10 products I have been loving throughout 2016.

.
After months of searching for a good powder for dry skin I finally jumped on the bandwagon and got the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent. I am so glad I decided to give this powder a try because it’s so luxurious and gives my skin the perfect finish. It’s a lightweight powder so doesn’t cause your makeup to look cakey and it’s the perfect powder for ‘baking’.
.
My favourite mascara for my lower lashes is Pixi by Petra Lower Lash Mascara, which I first heard about watching my favourite american YouTuber Cosmobyhaley! I’ve been wearing it every day since I bought it and it gives my lashes a natural fluttery look which lasts all day.
.
My favourite mascara for top lashes is Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, which I got after hearing such good things about it online. I’ve worn it every day since, as it makes my lashes look seriously long and it lasts all day! I hate when mascaras make your lashes look clumpy and prefer my lashes to look more separated and fluttery and this mascara does exactly that!
.
Nivea ‘for Men’ Sensitive Post Shave Balm is a godsend for dry skin. This has become one of my holy grail products which I use every day to prime my skin. It gives my foundation a good base to stick to and keeps my makeup on all day. You can usually pick this up in Tesco for around £2-£3 or Boots have it for about £5.
.
Once I discovered you’re supposed to actually saturate the Beautyblender makeup sponge with water and then squeeze it out so it’s damp, I realised just how amazing it is. I really enjoy using the sponge to apply my foundation/concealer as I find it blends everything out perfectly due to the sponge being m- actually we won’t use that word… damp. I also love to use it for ‘baking’ when applying powder to my under eye area.
.
My favourite drugstore matte liquid lipsticks are Sleek Matte Me Liquid Lipsticks which are such good value for money. I own the shades Birthday Suit, Bitter Sweet and Shabby Chic. They don’t dry my lips out at all and they last all day, and the colours are super pigmented so you don’t end up with streaky lips.
.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Fair (15) has been my absolute favourite concealer throughout this year. The shade is perfect for my skin tone and it’s great for dry skin as it doesn’t cling to dry patches. It leaves my skin looking healthy with a light coverage. I also use this as an eyeshadow base (with powder) which works well for blending out eyeshadows!
.
I have used the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette more than any other palette this year. It’s such a gorgeous palette with amazing shades and smells of peaches! I have written a more in depth review of this palette here. This previously limited edition palette has recently been made available again at Debenhams!
.
MAC Blusher in Warm Soul has become my one and only blusher this year. I’m obsessed with this shade, it’s super pigmented and looks beautiful on the skin. I apply it above the hollows of my cheeks to bring some colour back into my face and blend it a little with my bronzer to bring the look together.
.
I was recently sent the Dermalogica Precleanse cleansing oil, in collaboration with Preen.Me, which I have become obsessed with! It has a citrusy scent which smells amazing, though I was slightly worried that my skin may react to it, being that my skin is so sensitive. I was pleasantly surprised that my skin loves it and I’ve noticed my skin looks refreshed and feels silky smooth after each use. I’m half way through the bottle as I’ve been using it every day since I received it, and I am really considering buying a second bottle!

With love,
Gemma
