My Dermalogica Face Mapping Experience

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or you’re Mark, you’ve probably noticed all the hype surrounding Dermalogica products. I was recently sent some products to try out so keep on reading to see what I have to say about them!

Dermalogica recently teamed up with Preen.Me for their ‘My Face My Story’ program and I was lucky enough to be chosen as a participant!
.
I visited my local Dermalogica specialist, KA’s Beauty in Norwich, for my Face Mapping Analysis. During the analysis my Skin Therapist divided my face into fourteen different zones, which she examined inch-by-inch using touch and sight. Her findings were then recorded onto my Dermalogica prescription sheet, which was then used to determine products best suited to my skin.
.
Dermalogica then kindly sent me a selection of four of their leading products from my prescription sheet, which included the Precleanse cleansing oil, Active Moist moisturiser, Special Cleansing Gel, and the Daily Microfoliant exfoliating powder.
.
As I’ve mentioned previously I have struggled with Eczema, sensitivity and dry skin since childhood and so finding suitable skincare products has always been difficult, especially for my face. When I was first approached to take part in this program I was slightly concerned my skin might react to the products and that they would just dry my skin out even more but to my surprise my skin responded really well to them and has honestly never felt better!
.
I have never experienced acne but due to my skin conditions my face does often look rather dull, with the occasional spot or two around ovulation, but by using a combination of these products I have definitely noticed an improvement in my appearance, whereby my complexion looks brighter and healthier and lately I have felt comfortable enough in my own skin to leave the house makeupless!
.
My favourite of the four products is the Precleanse cleansing oil. This stuff is amazing! It has a citrusy scent and feels very refreshing to use at any time of day. It’s a simple to use oil which works as the first step of the ‘double cleanse’ where it removes the majority of makeup from your skin, allowing your cleanser to penetrate deeper into the skin to remove all traces of makeup. I believe this product to be the one which has had the most impact on my skin and so I will definitely be replacing this once it runs out.
.
Next up, the Special Cleansing Gel. This product doesn’t have a scent and is a gentle cleanser made for sensitive skin. This cleanser always leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh after use and so I would definitely recommend giving it a go if you’re on the hunt for a new cleanser!
.
I found the Active Moist moisturiser wasn’t great for my skin. It’s highly likely that it’s just because my skin is super dry that I didn’t find it to be very good, but basically every time I applied it my skin absorbed it so quickly I had to then either reapply or layer a different moisturiser over the top. I like my facial moisturisers to be thick enough to keep a nice barrier over my skin to sink in overnight so that by the morning my skin is smooth and hydrated. I think this would be a good choice for someone without dry skin, who prefers a lighter facial moisturiser.
.
The Daily Microfoliant comes in the form of a powder which you have to add a little water with to create a paste to then exfoliate your face with. I have found this to be a very gentle exfoliator which can be used daily (as the name would suggest) and is again unscented. I would recommend this product if you’re looking for an exfoliator gentle enough to use daily.

.
With Love,
Gemma
